Please come and join us Saturday October 25, 2008,
for
a Clean-up Day.
On Saturday, October 25th, from
9:00a.m.-4:00p.m, volunteers are needed to assist with a variety of projects at
Greenleaf Cemetery. The Granite Guys/Reed Memorial will be leveling and
repairing markers in the oldest sections of the cemetery including the historic
African-American section. Volunteers may assist in locating and uncovering
markers that are overgrown. The four flower beds at the entrance gate need to be
prepared for new plants and shrubs. Dirty, dingy walls in the small office
building need to be scrubbed, primed, and painted. These are only a few of the
ways in which you can help the cash strapped cemetery in our community.
If you do not have access to shovels, rakes,
rock bars, gardening equipment and painting supplies, we will try to furnish
those items. Volunteers may bring sack lunches and picnic on the grounds.
The entrance to Greenleaf Cemetery is beside
the Sterling Monument Company on the Brady Highway(US 377 South).
